A beautiful open space just outside Denver with red rock formations, rolling meadows, shaded creek trails, and over 12 miles of hiking. It's much quieter than nearby Red Rocks Park, making it a great place if you want the scenery without the crowds. You might spot deer, elk, and plenty of wildflowers in spring, and some trails even lead directly into Red Rocks. The historic Mount Vernon cemetery is a small but interesting stop along the Village Walk Trail, while Dinosaur Ridge next door is worth visiting to see real dinosaur footprints. Tip: If you're visiting on summer weekends, the free Westracks Shuttle is an easy way to get here without worrying about parking. Keep an eye out for mountain bikes and rattlesnakes on sunny trails, and wear good hiking shoes since some sections are rocky. Pic: Day Hikes Near Denver
