One of Denver's best after-work hikes: steep enough to feel like a real workout, close enough to Golden to do on a weeknight. The climb goes straight up to Windy Saddle Park with panoramic views of Golden and the plains at the top. Sunsets here are consistently good and locals come specifically for golden hour. From Windy Saddle you can continue to the Lookout Mountain summit and the Buffalo Bill Museum and Grave (grave is free, museum has an entry fee). A few things to know before you go: this is a shared mountain bike trail and bikes come down fast on the descent, so stay alert especially on narrow sections. Parking on the Hwy 6 shoulder is very limited, arrive early or park on a side street in Golden and walk to the trailhead. Pic: Day Hikes Near Denver
