A 995-acre open space park in the foothills southwest of Denver that contains dramatic red sandstone spires, craggy rock outcroppings, and geological formations nearly identical to those at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, with almost none of the crowds. The main loop is a 2.8-mile lollipop following the Swallow Tail and Coyote Song trails with views of the Red Rocks hogback and the Front Range throughout. Wildlife in the park includes wild turkeys, mule deer, raptors, and coyotes. The park is adjacent to Deer Creek Canyon Park and Hildebrand Ranch Park, allowing extended trail linking. Tip:Rattlesnakes are present, so stay on the trail and keep dogs leashed. Pic: The Denver Post
